Alaçatı is a neighborhood in Çeşme district of İzmir province. It has a coast to the Aegean Sea. It is famous for its historical stone houses and beaches suitable for windsurfing due to the wind 360 days a year. It has developed a lot in recent years thanks to its stone houses.
Alaçatı takes its name from an Ottoman tribe called 'Alacaat'. Greeks and Turks lived in Alaçatı during the Ottoman period. Since the word 'Alacaat' is difficult to pronounce in Greek, 'Alacaat' changed over time and took the name Alaçatı used today. Alaçatı, close to Çeşme, is famous for its stone streets, colorful flowers and historical stone houses. Here you can sit in cute cafes, shop and enjoy the historical atmosphere.
